Call For Student Design Proposals

The Tishman Environment and Design Center is seeking a small team of Parsons students to assist in the design and implementation of a public, interactive display for the week-long curriculum disruption, Disrupting Climate Injustice.The display should provide a physical frame or platform for a guided reflection activity. For five days, the Tishman Center will post a “Daily Disruption” with a small amount of information followed by a reflection question. New School students, faculty, and staff are invited to interact with the display by recording and posting their response to the reflection question.Display requirements:

  • 5 "sections" (one for each day, Mon-Fri)

  • Include a space for the daily disruption (11 x 17) and space for posting responses

  • Creative mode of posting responses/interacting with the display

    • This could be as simple as post-it notes, but we encourage creativity

  • The display should be visually interesting and should fit the space in which it will be housed

    • Options include the University Center Lobby or the Parsons “Crit Corner” at 2 West 13th Street

    • Design proposals should include a location recommendation

  • Environmentally friendly materials and design preferred

  • Design proposals (with materials budget) due Wednesday, February 7th

Resources:The winning design proposal will be implemented during the curriculum disruption, February 26- March 2. The winning team will receive a $150 stipend for their work. The following resources are available to be used in the design and construction of the display:

  • 1 roll of brown craft paper (48” x 200’)

  • Up to $350 for materials
