EVENT: Cities Deliver Sustainable Development: Global Urban Leaders Endorse and Operationalize the SDGs

Tishman Auditorium at 63 5th Avenue (Room U100) to engage with world-leading Mayors and local government leaders as they pledge their support for the United Nations’ new Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) in their cities and commit to implementing the new urban agenda between now and 2030.We warmly welcome you to join California Governor Edmund G. Brown, Jr., as he convenes new global signatories to the Under 2 MOU, a subnational global climate leadership memorandum of understanding at The New School, home to progressive climate solutions. This event, taking place in the same location, will start at 6:00 PM (doors open at 5:30 PM), leading into a panel with Mayors.Jeffrey Sachs, Director of Sustainable Development Solutions Network (UNSDSN), will host this Cities Driving Sustainable Development event with Mayors in partnership with the Campaign for Urban SDG, the Global Taskforce of Local and Regional Governments and the Tishman Environment and Design Center at The New School.Global urban leaders will offer a roadmap from New York’s UN SDGs to Paris’ climate summit at COP21 (December 2015), with implications for the new urban agenda to be adopted at Habitat III in Quito (October 2016).Expected speakersBill de Blasio, Mayor of New York City, United States of AmericaEdmund G.
