Laura Sansone Promotes Sustainable Textiles with Textile Lab

Laura Sansone, Assistant Professor of Alternative Fashion Systems at Parsons School of Design runs the Textile Lab, a research organization focused on ethical textile design and production methods.Textile Lab was born in 2009 out of the GrowNYC Greenmarket system in NYC. They use a mobile kitchen and workstation to research local fiber systems and environmentally ethical textile production. They harvest plants at the local markets to study environmentally safe methods of dyeing and creating textiles, and handcraft with regional wool.The Textile Lab work at the Greenmarket examines the interconnection of products and systems like textiles and farming and food production.
